Irene is survived by her children: Margaret (Reid) Heggie, David (Shirley) Jensen, Elaine (DeVar) Pack, Roger (Joanne) Jensen, Stephen (Judy-Lee) Jensen and Kathleen Savage, as well as 36 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Irene is also survived by her sisters: Guinivere Torrie and Barbara MacPhee, and a brother Phillip Redd.
She was predeceased by her husband Bryant, two children: Brenda Grace Shields (Burton) and Bryant Hugh Jensen and 2 grandchildren.
Irene was born on February 3, 1919 in Raymond where she grew up and completed her schooling. Following high school, she attended Normal School in Calgary to become a teacher. Her short teaching career found her in the classroom at Miami Colony, the Milford Colony, Beazer country school and the Raymond Elementary School.
On June 5, 1941 she married Bryant in the Alberta Temple. After their marriage, she accompanied Bryant as he was posted at various locations in Eastern Canada. She returned to Raymond when Bryant went overseas to serve his country. After the war they settled in Raymond where they worked together and raised their family. Her life was devoted to her family, church and community. Her greatest joy in life was in providing service to others.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, KNIGHT STREET CHAPEL, Raymond, with Bishop Ron McMullin officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment to follow in Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.
