Service types for cremation can include but are not limited to:

  • Traditional Service: more formal, held in a church or chapel setting, casket & body are present with cremation to follow
  • Memorial Service/Reception: a minister or MC conducts service and family and friends can gather and share stories with the option to serve refreshments
  • Make sure that whatever is chosen that it reflects the life that was lived and gives the outlet for those left behind to grieve

We want to ensure that you have as much information and options available to you and your family as you make you decision. Please know that at any time you can contact our office at 403-382-3601 and speak directly with one of our Funeral Professionals.

Why are cremation prices so different between funeral homes?

Relatively speaking, cremation is the more economical choice for disposition. If you haven’t decided on a funeral home, and you are requesting information from multiple locations you may be confused with the pricing comparisons. Please make sure just as you would with any purchase that you are doing your research and that you are comparing “apples to apples” so to speak. Make sure that when you are receiving your information that ALL FEES are included in their estimates. Make sure to ask for any services that may NOT be included or would be considered “extra fees”

Why do I need a casket for cremation?

The Alberta Funeral Service Regulatory Board requires funeral homes & crematoriums place a decedent in a suitable cremation container. We require a rigid structure for placing an individual in a crematorium, which is why funeral homes offer more “economical” cremation containers. It doesn’t have the ornate details that a traditional burial casket would, yet still meets the requirements outlined by the Regulatory board.

Why do I need to bring in clothing?

All decedents brought into our care our given the same level of dignity and respect. We will do a basic bathing and dress in clothing brought in by family. It does not have to be anything formal, rather it could be something your loved one was always comfortable in, including their favorite pair of slippers. It is a final act of nobility we offer to your loved one.
