He is the loving father of Todd (Shauna) Jones, Sheri (Corvil) Howells, Karla (Heath) Michelson, and Evan (Julie) Jones. He will be missed by grandchildren Jaelynn, Kaden, Macey, Kolbee, Josh, Ty, Madelyn, Austin, and Caitlyn. Left to mourn is his brother Howard, sister Nadene, mother in law Irene Leister and many dear friends and family.
Del was born on September 11, 1936 in Cardston, the youngest of four children, to Percy Alfred (Casey) and Mabel Emily Jones. He grew up in the small farming community of Twin River and loved the outdoors immensely. He spent many hours on the back of a horse exploring the vast prairies. Hard work was a necessity for life on the homestead and Del learned the value of honesty and integrity working with his family. After the day's work was done, there was always time for a game of catch or horseshoes.
Upon graduating school in Del Bonita, Del attended the agricultural school of Olds in 1955 and made numerous friends while receiving his degree. In 1959 he earned his pilot's license and also became an accomplished auctioneer.
The fall of 1962 was a special time as Del married his sweetheart, Mary Ann Leister. They were married for 46 years and have made many happy memories. Music was an important part of the Jones' family life and everyone loved listening to Del sing and play the piano.
Del was an avid outdoorsman and loved the land. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent over 30 years farming the land. Above all he loved his "DUFFS" and looked forward to the arrival of his new calves each spring.
Del left a legacy of honesty and integrity to his family. He took enjoyment in those simple pleasures that most take for granted. His quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
