Steve is survived by his sister Mary (late Ken) Stenson, and brothers Peter (Evelyn) Mazutinec and Andy Mazutinec, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Alex and Julia Mazutinec, sister and brother-in-law Anne and Louis Racz, brother and sister-in-law John and Beverly Mazutinec, brother Joe Mazutinec, and mother and father-in-law Lois and Loggie Erickson.
Steve was born in Natal, British Columbia - the fifth child to Alex and Julia Mazutinec. Shortly after, Steve’s family moved to Shaughnessy where he attended school until grade 8. He was bussed to Diamond City for grade 9, and then completed high school in Picture Butte. Following high school, Steve apprenticed as a welder for Noble
Cultivators and earned his Journeyman Welders Certificate. He worked at Noble Cultivators until 1969, and then was offered a position at the Picture Butte Sugar Factory where he worked until the factory closed down in 1978. Steve then became employed by the Turin Gas Plant for many years and then retired in 1997. He did not stay retired for long, as he worked for the Town of Picture Butte and also did the Sugar Beet Campaign for several years following.
As a young man, Steve enjoyed playing sports. His favourite was pitching for his fast-ball teams. He liked to golf, and Betty Lou and he enjoyed playing two-ball foursomes with their friends. Steve enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He spent many hours at hockey rinks, gymnasiums, and baseball fields. Steve loved to socialize. Anywhere he went, he would strike up a conversation with people. He had a morning routine of going for coffee and shooting the breeze with the guys. He enjoyed travelling to Milk River where he and his siblings would play cards and visit. He loved playing games like Checkers, Cribbage, Shang-Hai, 31, Rummoli, Pictionary, etc. with his kids and grandkids.

One of Steve’s finest talents was his ability to dance. He loved to jive - Betty Lou and he even won dance contests! It was fun to see how much they enjoyed dancing together. Karma loved gliding around the dance floor with him, and so did his granddaughters.

Steve was an avid gardener. He loved being outside taking care of his yard, or shoveling his and his neighbours’ snow. He had an amazing work ethic, and was always willing to lend a hand.
