It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Rudolf "Rudy" Abram John Nordin Sr. on November 27, 2022. Rudy was born on March 20, 1935 in Glamis, Saskatchewan, the only child of Percy and Mary (nee. Penner) Nordin.
When Rudy was eleven, his father passed away, so he and his mom lived with her family in and around Herbert, Saskatchewan. He eventually settled in Moose Jaw where he met his wife, Lorraine. They married in 1954 and soon started a family. They moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta in 1965 and settled in Lethbridge.
Rudy was very much involved in numerous local sports as an athlete and a volunteer. He especially loved softball and curling, and he and Lorraine spent many hours cheering for their kids. He was able to watch his grandchildren play as well.
Rudy worked for the city of Lethbridge as a bus driver for many years before becoming a butcher at CDM/Maple Leaf and a mechanic at Al Hawley trucking. He really liked working on the trucks which he did well into his 70’s.
Dad was very much a family man. He loved his family both immediate and extended, and he especially loved it when we would get together for any event.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his children, Glenda (Scott) Young, Crystal Nordin, Debbie (Jeff) Blair, Rudy (Donna) Nordin Jr. and son-in-law, Malcolm Macfarlane.
He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and eighteen adorable great-grandchildren.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine; sons, Percy, Grant and Dean; and daughters, April Semak and Patricia MacFarlane.
Rudy was an amazing, wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
We love you, Papa.
