Ronald Byron Petersen

Ronald Byron Petersen of Lethbridge passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday March 28, 2023 at the age of 89 after several months of declining health.

Ron was born on Dec 28, 1933 to Marjorie and Moyle Petersen in Lethbridge. Ron was the younger of two boys. He graduated from LCI in 1952. He met and married the love of his life, Marguerite DeVries, on February 12, 1955.

Ron and Marguerite lived on the farm in New Dayton for the first few years and then moved to Lethbridge in 1959. Ron opened Ron’s Appliance Service in 1964. When he retired, he passed the business onto his son Steve. Ron served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various callings, including the Scouting Program. He also spent time helping others in his community outside of church. Ron’s greatest joy was his family. He was always happiest when they were gathered together and he could spend time with them.

Ron’s itchy feet had them traveling extensively, but their favourite place was the cabin at Swan Lake, Montana. It was there where they created some of their most cherished memories.

Ron is predeceased by his mother, father, and brother, Lou Petersen of Utah. He is survived by his wife Marguerite Petersen; his children David (Terri), Stephen (Sally), Wendy (Rick) Hart, Darren (Kathy), and Shelly Petersen; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may meet the family on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lethbridge East Stake Chapel, 4105 Forestry Ave. S. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023 with Bishop Shawn Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.
