Paul Gross

Paul Gross passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on August 31, 2023, at the age of 82 following a courageous journey with cardiovascular disease.

Born in Pincher Creek, Alberta on November 16, 1940, Paul grew up on the Pincher Creek Hutterian Brethren Colony. The beautiful landscape and Castle River served as his playground. Paul’s love of horses began at a young age. He spent many hours riding with his cousin tending cattle along with his dog Tip.

In 1965, while working for Craig Construction of Pincher Creek, Paul met the love of his life Priscilla Atwood at the Dine-Away Cafe in Cardston, Alberta. In 1966, Paul began working for the Town of Claresholm.  It was in Claresholm that they raised their children. Paul worked for the Town of Claresholm for 32 years prior to retiring. Following retirement Paul continued to work as a machinery operator if the opportunity arose.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman all his life. He was a passionate horseman, hunter, and angler. Paul shared this love with his family teaching his children and grandchildren to enjoy and respect nature.

Paul moved with Priscilla to Vulcan Extendicare in 2017 where he resided until his passing.

Paul is lovingly remembered as father to Dale (Sandra) Gross (Claresholm), Paulette (Trevor) Wagenvoort (Champion), and Doug (Sondi) Gross (Edmonton); and grandfather to ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Paul was predeceased by his wife Priscilla; his parents, Frederick Gross and Annie (Stahl) Gross; and his sisters Annie Hofer and Rebecca Hofer.

Paul is survived by his brother Henry Gross of Marlin, Washington USA.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home in Lethbridge (703 13 Street North). Following the memorial service please join the family for a time of sharing while enjoying Paul’s favorite foods.
