It is with immense sorrow but gentle relief that we announce the passing of Lavonne Anne Shepherd of Raymond, Alberta. Lavonne passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on June 2, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Left to mourn her passing are her four children, Roderick Shepherd, Darrell Shepherd, Deb Schamber, and Sharon Prasloski, her seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Lavonne is survived by her five siblings, Virginia (Albert) Zawada, Margaret (Garold) Bullock, Robert Fraser, Linda Cristofoli, and Shirley (David) Jensen, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Lavonne was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Margaret Fraser, her brother-in-law Brian Cristofoli, and her sister-in-law Donna Fraser.
Mom was born in Lethbridge and was raised on the family farm outside of Raymond, Alberta. She spent the majority of her career working as a head cook at the Ridgeview Lodge in Raymond for 32 years where she found her passion for cooking and baking. There was never an occasion where mom didn’t have delicious meals and baked goods prepared for her family, and usually enough to feed the rest of the town too!
Mom’s hard work and dedication was exhibited in her yardwork, flowerbeds and garden, for which she took great pride in. She always made sure to fill her flowerbeds with beautiful red and white petunias which were enjoyed by her family on her annually hosted July 1st family gatherings.
When the colder months came on, you would find mom bundled up inside working on word-search puzzles or jigsaw puzzles and watching her beloved Calgary Flames.
Mom also had a love for her four-legged furry animals and will be sadly missed by her cat, Baby. Mom always made sure there was a bowl of food and water on the front step for any cat that stopped by to visit her.
Honouring Lavonne’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lethbridge and District Humane Society.
