She is also survived by her siblings Kathy (Wes) Donahoo, Ken (Dixie) Burt, Stephen (Darla) Burt, Susan (Craig) Hammond, Marilyn (Larry) Stone along with her in-laws Doug (Diane) Salmon, Ted (Barbara) Salmon, Lois Salmon, Craig (Marty) Salmon, Lee (Joanne) Salmon, Barb (Dave) Logan, and Joanie Salmon (Jim Lawrence), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Kris was predeceased by her parents and her brother Billy.
Kris was born in St. Anthony, Idaho to Cyril and Maxine Burt on February 11, 1950. She lived in Idaho Falls for a short time and then the family settled in Parker, Idaho. Her days were spent learning to sew and bake, and developing a love of the written word. There were countless hours spent playing games, laughing, and floating the river. In her childhood, she learned the things that would shape her legacy.
She received her Associates Degree from Ricks College majoring in English, and while there met Jack. They were married on July 10, 1970 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They started their life together in Provo, Utah then moved to the farm outside Coaldale, Alberta in 1973 where they raised their family and developed many lifelong friendships in the Coaldale ward. After moving to Raymond in 1994, Jack and Kris quickly became Raymond Comet superfans. No matter the weather, or how far they had to travel, there have been few sporting events that they weren’t in attendance. Kris especially loved watching her children, and now grandchildren, compete and perform in their various activities. Jack and Kris were a unit, they worked together and played together and it was rare to see one without the other. In equal partnership, they lead a great and eternal organization called the family.
Kris had a lot of talents and will be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her ability to feed a crowd. She was a skilled seamstress, willing to help tackle any sewing project, including making quilts for her kids and grandkids. Kris had a gift for decorating any space for any occasion. She took great pride in always having a spotlessly clean home, and everyone was always welcome. She was a born leader and was often put in charge of anything that needed to be done. She was profoundly organized and a meticulous planner, in her church callings and especially in her role as a mother.
Kris’ work and glory was her family. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Kris was a do-er. She lived a life of service and love, quietly caring for those around her. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel and a knowledge that families are forever. She was kind, loving, compassionate, strong and courageous to the end. She was a woman of integrity and truth who led by example, and has left behind a legacy that her family and friends will cherish forever.
