Joyce Louise Erickson Nilsson Christensen

Joyce passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years. Both her children, Barbara and Gary were at her bedside.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Eldred Henry "Hank" Nilsson and her parents Mary Fontella Hartley Erickson and Ralph Erickson.

She is survived by her present husband, Donald Leon Christensen, her only sister Ludene McCrae and three brothers-in-law, Bob McCrae, Gordon Bowden and Darryl Nilsson. She is also survived by both her children, Barbara and her family and Gary and his family. She is also survived by her husband's three children, John Christensen, Ron Christensen and Donna Szalai together with their families.

Joyce was a talented singer. She loved to sing and dance at every opportunity. Riding horses as a young girl and later with Hank was a hobby they both enjoyed and derived many hours of pleasure from these companiable outings. She was always ready and eager to be involved in any type of outdoor activity.

Joyce spent much of her time being actively involved in her children's activities throughout their childhoods. She spent time with Gary as he developed and shared his musical abilities. She was an active participant with her children as they all enjoyed swimming, skating, biking, camping and horseback riding.

Joyce loved to travel and had many wonderful memories of trips with Bob and Ludene McCrae, Norm and Audrey Nilsson, Gordon and Betty Ogden and many other friends and relatives. Later in life she and Don enjoyed cruises and travelling across Canada and staying in Waterton in their trailer. Joyce was always a very social person and had many dear friends.

She had a strong testimony of her savior Jesus Christ and shared her testimony with others. She served in many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joyce spent her last years in long term care at the Coaldale Hospital. We recognize the wonderful care she received from the staff. They affectionately called her Joycee.

We know that Joyce will be missed by all her family and friends. We love you.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stirling Chapel, 413 3 St, Stirling, Alberta.
