John Van Uden

John Van Uden, beloved husband of Nellie Van Uden, passed away peacefully with his entire family by his side on Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

Besides his loving wife Nellie, John is survived by his six children:

Peter (Connie) Van Uden of Vauxhall, and children Amanda Van Uden and Josh (Shawna) Van Uden, great grandchildren Francis, Samuel and Kiara all of Lethbridge.

Elizabeth (Peter) Walker of Calgary and children John, Michael and Melanie.

Brian (Susan) Van Uden of Vauxhall and children Matt in Houston, Texas and Lani in Victoria, British Columbia.

Diana (Richard) Hartford of Calgary and children Jack and Will.

Jackie (Marty) Piitz of Calgary and children Mark, Derek and Rachel.

Trish (Paul) Loman of Picture Butte and children Michele, Ryan and Trevor.

He is survived by many relatives in Holland and Alberta. John was predeceased by his grandson Daniel in 1983.

John was born in Holland on October 2, 1927. He immigrated to Canada in 1954. John married Nellie in Coaldale, Alberta on February 19, 1955. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

John came to Canada to farm and enjoyed many years of farming in Twin Butte, Picture Butte and Vauxhall. John was a wonderful Husband, Father, Opa and Great Opa who was loved by all. His happiest moments were spent with his family, his flower garden, and with all the card players.

His attitude towards life, his sense of humor, kindness and his faith were an inspiration to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered forever.

Prayers will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 30th, 2006, at Assumption Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 31st, 2006 at Assumption Catholic Church, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge.
