It is with sadness that the family of Harrison (Tim) Laird Thompson announces his passing on March 29, 2024, at the age of 77 years at Raymond, Alberta.
Tim was born in Calgary, Alberta, June 18, 1946 and is survived by his son Stuart of Penticton, British Columbia, son David (Heidi) of Cranbrook, British Columbia; Grandchildren Jacob, Tyler and Alexis Thompson; brother Brad (Mary) of Whitehorse, Yukon, his very special cousin Margie Roblin and her children, Shawn and Michael, of Simi Valley California; his cousin Sean Davis of Champion, Alberta with whom he spent many hours having coffee at the local A&W in Vulcan, Alberta and his niece Heather and nephews Kevin and Greg.
Tim was predeceased by his mother Marguerite Pearl Thompson in 1980, his father Harrison (Harry) Thompson in 1966 and his step-father Robert Bryson in 1980.
Tim commenced his 32-year career in Corrections at the old Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre in 1975. In 1988 he was transferred to the Sheriff’s Department in Calgary, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. After his retirement he had a desire to move to Southern Alberta as he felt he had a familial connection to this part of the province.
Tim loved his pets and over the years cared for many of them. He was an avid amateur ham radio operator and spent countless hours conversing with folks in all parts of the world. Nothing brought Tim more joy than the time spent riding his motorcycle and exploring part of Alberta, British Columbia, and Western United States.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at the Raymond Long Term Care Facility, especially Cyndi, who always made sure Tim could connect with his family and friends.
As per Tim’s request, there will be no funeral service. He has been cremated and will be laid to rest in Edmonton, Alberta. Please take a moment to reflect on a memory shared with Tim and in lieu of donations share an act of kindness in his memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home in Lethbridge, Alberta.
