Florence (Litchfield) Herget passed away in her home on September 30, 2022, at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Milson and Minnie (Jardine) Litchfield; her husband, Moroni; sister, Mae (Jim) McMahon; and daughter-in-law, Cullen (McEwing) Herget.
Florence was born December 12, 1923 and lived her entire life in Southern Alberta – Fincastle, Purple Springs, Raymond, and Stirling.
She married Moroni Herget in the Cardston Alberta Temple on July 21, 1943. They built a home outside of Stirling in 1953. After her husband’s passing in 1999, she remained there and took care of this attractive acreage for the nest 20 years. Her family, kids and grandkids always loved going home to the farm in Canada where they were always made to feel welcome. She loved working outside in the trees and in her yard and garden. She did lots of hand work – quilting, sewing, tatting, crocheting, and knitting. She knit baby booties and toques for the Chinook Regional Hospital and crocheted for Blankets of Canada for many years. Family and friends were often the recipients of boxes of handmade chocolates, plates of goodies, and loaves of fresh bread. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in the Primary for many years.
She is survived by three of her children, Darlene of Calgary; Wayne (Suzane) of West Jordon, Utah; and Dale (Cullen-deceased) of St. George, Utah; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her oldest son, Sheldon (Debby) of Sandy, Utah passed away three days after her death on October 3, 2022.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Stirling Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Stirling.
A recording of the service will be available beneath Florence’s online obituary after the service.
