Clayton Mercer Obituary

Clayton Mercer of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Diane Mercer, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2022.

Clayton is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Baylli Hain, son in law DJ Holmes, and grandchildren Dysson and Aubree.

Clayton is also survived by his sister Audrey (Dale) Wilson, Myrna Olshaski, and brother Lloyd (Edna) Mercer.

He was predeceased by his parents Ernest Sr. and Marion Mercer, sister Della Katan, brothers Ernie Mercer and Don Mercer.

Clayton was a farmer with every fiber of his being, it truly was who he was, and he farmed his entire life, retiring from active farming the last couple of years.  In true Mercer fashion, there wasn't much he couldn't fix and make work again.

He had many hobbies throughout his life.  In his younger years he raced motorcycles and stock cars, and loved to windsurf. He was a pool shark, and had so much fun playing the newest pinball machines.  He also loved to fish and hunt, especially his time spent at the coast salmon fishing, and catching the big ones at St. Mary's.  Clayton spent many years goose and pheasant hunting with his dogs Duster, and then Sidney.  He loved all animals, and had such a soft spot for them.

Clayton had a lifelong interest and an immense knowledge of motorcycles, muscle cars, and of course his VW bugs.

We can't remember Clayton without remembering his love for food, he truly did live to eat!  Every meal was "the best ever".

Above everything else, Clayton loved his family and friends dearly, and would do anything for them, especially his girls.  He so enjoyed teasing us, he always had funny sayings and nicknames that we will cherish forever.  Nothing brought more joy to his life than his grandchildren, he loved them so very much, and was so proud of everything they did.

He was the very best husband, father and Papa.  We are all so lucky to have had Clayton, and the love we shared.  We will miss him immensely and forever.

Until we meet again Hunny Bun XO
