It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Greig Marshall, beloved husband to Jaclyn Marshall of Lethbridge, AB, who passed away on May 12, 2025 at the age of 82.
Chris will be missed by Jaclyn, his brother Pat, sister in law Inger plus extended family and friends.
At his request, no formal service will be held.
Below is a heartfelt reflection on his time dog sledding—a passion he shared with his beloved wife Jaclyn—graciously provided with permission to share:
So very very sad to hear of the passing this morning of my first mentor in the world of dogs - Chris Marshall.
Chris - and his wife, Jaclyn - sold me my first Siberian Husky, gave me my first dog sled ride and so much more. The first dog sleds I drove and owned were built by Chris. He was an exquisite craftsman. I spent a lot of time in their beautiful log home outside of Panorama, BC, talking dogs in general, Siberian Huskies, sled dogs, feeding, conditioning and racing. So many of my beliefs and values in dogs to this day were learned at their feet.
Just this past weekend at a sheepdog trial I quoted a 'Chris-ism' to someone "If you have to pick a puppy and are having trouble doing it - pick the one with the longer tail." I’d be lying if I said I didn't fall back on that - and many other things he taught me - a time or two in my life.
I think that my path in life would have always led me to Alaska, but Marshall's helped pack that path down so it was easier to follow, for sure.
I have been blessed to know many true dog men (and women) in my life - Chris was one of them. I hope that Chris is right now running a great big team of fabulous Meomar dogs - I'll even loan him Iceman for a bit until I need him.
Thank you, my friend for the very important role you played in my life. I am so grateful.
And much love to you Jackie.
