Bernice Mary Wright, beloved wife of Richard Wright of Milk River, passed away at home on 24th July 2024, at the age of 80. She is also the loving mother of Darren Wright of Milk River, Philip and Lisa Wright of Lethbridge.
Leaving behind 5 Grandchildren, (Richard, Becky, Cassie, Tim and Lexa) 8 Great Grandchildren (Alex, Livy, Lola, Zac, Dolly, Leila, Melissa and Ellie). She is also survived by her younger sister Beverly – Phil Harvey, Brother-in-law Tony Griffin, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents (Bernard and Margaret Lahey) and her Two sisters Shirley (Husband Brian Gilbert) and Cybil.
Bernice, born on January 18, 1944, to Bernard and Margaret Lahey in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, UK, passed away suddenly on July 24, 2024. She lived a life rich in love, service, and community spirit.
Bernice met Richard on December 23, 1960. Their connection was instant, and they were married on July 18, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life, welcoming their first son, Darren, on May 10, 1965, in Stoke-on-Trent, and their second son, Philip, on August 2, 1966, in Caterham.
Bernice pursued a career as a dental nurse in a military hospital, where she was known for her dedication and compassionate care. As a devoted military wife, she painted tanks and supported Richard's career, moving frequently to wherever his service took them. Bernice also worked in various shops, provided care for the elderly, taught baking at the local high school, and facilitated exams, leaving a positive impact in every role she undertook.
In 2009, Bernice and Richard emigrated to Canada, settling in the close-knit community of Milk River. There, Bernice quickly became a beloved member of the community, known for her tireless volunteering and active participation on numerous boards. She was a steadfast friend and a neighbor who brought joy and support to all who knew her.
Bernice had a passion for cribbage, word puzzles, and jigsaws, often spending hours enjoying these hobbies. Her weekly visits to Lavonne's Hair Nook to have her hair done were a cherished routine, bringing her joy and a sense of connection.
Bernice's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and love. She will be deeply missed by her husband Richard, her sons Darren and Philip, her Grandchildren Richard, Becky, Lexa, Cassie and Timothy and all her friends. The entire Milk River community will remember her for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Losing someone we love is never easy, but we must be thankful for the beautiful moments and memories we shared with them. Nothing is more painful in life than the separation of a jewel. Take solace in the fact that Bernice is in a better place, till we meet her again. May she continue to rest with the Lord.
