Bernard Lloyd Orr

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Bernard Lloyd Orr.  He was born March 13, 1960 in Lethbridge AB and died February 1, 2023 in Raymond AB at the age of 62.  He is survived by his beloved children: Kristen Shenade Orr, Tyler Lynn Orr, Rebecca Claire (Lucas) Fisk, and Calli Dawn (Dylan) Keeling, as well as his two sweet granddaughters Elizabeth Kaye and Arianna Lucy Fisk. Also left to mourn are: Lisa (Mendenhall) Orr, the mother of his children; and sisters Norma Orr, Lori (Bryan) Thomas, and Joanne (John) Briggs. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Lynn and Maureen Orr, and infant brother, Darren.

Bernie served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ireland and truly learned to love a people that were not his own. He dedicated the rest of his life to church service and reaching out to those in his community. 

One of Bernie’s greatest passions was coaching the Comets, and he excelled at it. Many students and athletes have benefited from the words and actions he shared. There was no replacement for hard work in Bernie’s mind, and he taught the principles he learned from farming in his early life to all the kids he came in contact with.

Trail riding in the mountains was another passion he shared with countless others and many friends have heard numerous stories of his time in the mountains, which he almost always managed to turn into a lesson about life. The Rocky Mountains held a special place in his heart and he often called them his sacred space.

Bernie loved people and was well loved in return. He was frequently found chatting in church foyers, in front of the post office, or any local sporting event. Rest in peace dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, coach, and friend - you will be missed. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Taylor Street Chapel in Raymond, AB with interment to follow in Orton Cemetery at 2:00 pm.  Additionally, there will be a Meet the Family on Friday, February 10, 2023 ONLY, starting at 6:00 pm at the Taylor Street Chapel.
