Augusta Rose Walter, loving spouse to Kenneth Walter, passed away unexpectedly in her home on February 6, 2024, at the age of 72.
Survived by her husband Kenneth, her children; Shannon (Rodney) Vedres, Troy (Ramona) Mutter, Heather Walter and Terra Walter, her grandchildren; Fayla (Cameron) Van Rijn, Tiana (Tyler) Pollock, Devin Mutter, Aiden Mutter, her great-grandchildren; Evren, Wyatt, Zaida and Rylee, plus her sister Matilda Dickie, and her brothers Jack and Raymond Frederiksen.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Konrad and Anna Fredericksen, her siblings Frank, Katherine, William Frederiksen, and sister Betty Dickie, and her grandson Grayson Mutter.
Born July 20 of 1951, in Fillmore, SK, Augusta grew up on a farm until her family moved to Alberta in 1971. She met and married the love of her life, Kenneth, in 1991, where her love of the country lifestyle continued.
As a young woman Augusta had several jobs. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator, as a retail salesclerk, in multi-level marketing, and in a post office. Her passion became foster parenting, and she did this for over 35 years.
On the acreage where she and Ken resided, she had cattle, pigs, a following of chickens, plus her cats and long eared dogs. She always made room for stray animals to care for by finding them a safe and loving home. Augusta was a hard-working woman, always finding new money-making ventures and would have never found reason for retirement. Her paradise was sitting on top of the B.C. mountains overlooking the Kootenay Lake with the sunshine on her face.
She will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Third Day Church (550 Wt Hill Blvd S #90, Lethbridge, AB) with Pastor Dick DeWeert officiating. Friends may meet the family to pay final respects from 12:00-12:50PM with funeral service at 1:00PM. Interment at Archmount Cemetery and reception will follow.
Live stream will be available, and a link will appear beneath the obituary on Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
