Vernon John Koop

Vernon Koop passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 78 years, following a battle with cancer.

Vernon was predeceased by his loving wife, Zenia, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Koop.

Vernon retired after 35 years in broadcasting, 33 of those years spent as the morning news anchor at CHQR Radio. His dedication to broadcasting and the community made him a familiar and respected voice to many.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
