A Lethbridge funeral home since 1927, in its fourth generation of Salmon funeral directors.
Christensen Salmon Generations has cared for families in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta for close to a hundred years — a Salmon family firm since 1960, and four generations of funeral directors since. Many of the families who sit down with us today are the grandchildren of families who sat with us before.
The same family, through a family’s whole line.
We have been here, in this city, under the same family, since 1927 — now in a fourth generation of Salmon funeral directors. What that means in practice is simple: when a family comes through the door, there is often someone here who remembers their mother’s service, or their grandfather’s, and who can say so.
The business opened as the Fleming Brothers Funeral Home. The Christensen Brothers took it on, and in 1960 Robert Salmon bought it from them — keeping their name beside his own rather than replacing it. His son Mel came into the business in 1977; his grandson Dan apprenticed under Mel and his uncle Max, and owns and directs the funeral home today. Dan’s own children have since joined him, making four generations of Salmon funeral directors.
We conduct funerals and burials, and cremation at our own crematorium. But the funeral is one day, and grief is not. Our care can begin long before it — while there is still time to talk things through unhurried — and it does not stop when the service ends. There are certificates to sort out, benefits to claim, and a first anniversary to get through. We are still here for those too.

From the Fleming Brothers to the fourth Salmon generation.
1927
A funeral home opens on the prairie.
The business begins as the Fleming Brothers Funeral Home, serving Lethbridge and the farming communities around it. In time the Christensen Brothers take it on, and it carries their name.
What families tell us mattered.
Three things we hold to, and three that families mention afterwards — usually not the ones a brochure would have listed.
The same faces
Four generations of Salmon funeral directors in one city, from 1927 to now. Families come back to us because they already know us.
A family name
Christensen Salmon is a name on a door, not a brand owned elsewhere. The people who care for your family also answer for it.
We listen first
You are letting us into the hardest week of your life. We start by asking about the person you have lost, and let that guide everything after.
At any hour
Someone answers, and comes. Day or night, from the first call you are not carrying this alone.
Our own crematorium
Cremation is carried out at our own crematorium by our own staff — never contracted out to another company.
Clear pricing
Costs you can see before you decide. Planning ahead fixes them; there is never pressure, and never a surprise.
