The official obituary of

Ryan John James Kutanzi

October 9, 1978 — October 8, 2026

Send flowers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Kutanzi, who died tragically on October 8, one day before his 48th birthday.

Born on October 9 in Taber, Alberta, Ryan lived a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and family. Though his life was far too short, he made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his love of Fords, fishing, hunting, farming, and friends.

Ryan was an admired husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His family was at the heart of everything he did.

In his younger years, Ryan dreamed of becoming a mechanic like his father. However, the allure of the oil rigs was too much to resist, and he joined his uncles in Alberta’s oil boom—a career that took him throughout Alberta, parts of British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and, at its height, to Mexico. But no matter where the oil took him, he always found his way back to his aunt and uncle’s farm, where he was truly happiest.

Ryan will be lovingly remembered by his parents, John and Bev; his brother, Scott; his wife, Delon (nee. Skretting); his daughters, Raelyn and Teagin; and his co-pilot, Mousse.

As well as the family that grounded him, including Brent, Myrna, Devin (Angela) Janessa and TC

Delons family Grandma Carol Skretting; Ron Tanya, Randi, Ronan and Deena Cadia (Ben) Baker

And they would love to give a special acknowledgement to Ryan’s first Second wife Stephanie Jeffrey; navigating this lost would’ve been impossible without her and the McInnes family.

They are all eternally grateful for the support Ryan’s friends have provided during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held on Ryan and Delon’s 17th anniversary, October 17, at 2 p.m. at the Redcliff River Front. Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories, memories, and celebrate a life that touched so many.

Please bring your own chair, tackle, and rods, and join us for fishing, yard games, and fellowship. There will be extra kids there who could use some of the lessons Ryan never had the chance to teach.

Though our hearts are broken by his sudden absence, we find comfort in knowing that Ryan is now free from life's struggles that burdened him. We will remember his courage, his strength, and the love he gave so freely. His memory will remain with us forever, and his life will continue to inspire compassion, understanding, and hope in all who knew him.
