
ZELDA CHLOE HASLAM passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the age of 89 with family by her side. Chloe was born in Leavitt on June 17, 1919 to Amos and Eileen Leavitt. Chloe was a very devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and friend. Everyone that knew Chloe loved her. Chloe was known for her love of family and quilting. She even made quilts that went overseas to Russia and Germany. To Chloe family was everything. Grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren were like the blocks that she finished her quilts with; each stitch was a stitch of love. Mom worked at the hospital in Cardston. She was very well liked because she always went above and beyond the call of duty. She worked for Leo Bluekens for many years on the grain farm and became a favorite with all the men for her cooking and baking. She was predeceased by her husband Bob and two sons, Rex and Mark, her parents, three brothers and three sisters. She leaves to mourn her children: Yvonne Smith of Cardston, Boyd Haslam of Cardston, Sam Haslam of Lethbridge, Gordon (Sylvia) Haslam of Calgary, Lee (Lorraine) Haslam of Burnaby, BC, Miriam Wiebe of BC, Gail (Fred) Plettl of Lethbridge, Truda (Harry) Louey of Pincher Creek, Cindy (Peter) Dawson of Cardston and Dixie (Gord) Brewster of Edmonton; as well as 35 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn two sisters-in-law, Joan Leavitt and Mamie Ray and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS in Leavitt, Alberta from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Craig Carnell officiating. Interment to follow in the Leavitt Cemetery.
