
YOSHIYE SHIRAKAWA, beloved wife of the late Roy Shirakawa, passed away peacefully at St. Michael Health Centre, Palliative Care on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the age of 80 years. She was born March 23, 1931 in Vancouver, BC. Yoshiye married Roy on December 24, 1954 in Iron Springs where she spent most of her life until moving to Lethbridge in 1997. Left to mourn her passing is her daughter June (Sid) Bilcik, and son Tom (Cindy) Shirakawa. Grandchildren: Tracy Bilcik (Doug Wyrostek), Dylan Bilcik, Kimberly and Myles Shirakawa all of Lethbridge; sisters Sumiko (Joe) Tomiyama of Lethbridge, Mutsu (Joe) Tsukishima of Calgary; many nieces and nephews. Yoshiye was predeceased by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Kanaye and Sei Yano, sister Eiko Furuse, brother Masaji Furuse and grandson Kristopher Shirakawa. Yoshi, as she was known to many, was a very loving and caring person to her family, friends or whomever she came in contact with. Yoshi's family would like to thank all the Health Care Professionals and everyone who cared for and helped her through her courageous battle with cancer. Mom will be missed by all. Thanks also to Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home for all their help. As per Mom's request, a private family service will be held. No flowers or koden by request.
