YOSHITO (Jack) OGA, beloved husband of Noriko Oga of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the age of 80 years. He is the loving father of Karen (John) Davies and their children Alexandra and Spencer of Calgary, and Heather Oga (Todd Henschell) and their children Courtney and Chloe of Edmonton. He is also survived by his brothers: Tak (Jean) Oga of Lethbridge, Tosh (Sumi) Oga of Picture Butte, and sisters: Shizue Tomiyama of Taber, and Susan Miki of Lethbridge, and numerous nephews and nieces in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Yoshito was predeceased by his parents Makitaro and Teru Oga and brothers-in-law Yoshio Tomiyama and Susumi Miki. Yoshito was born March 26, 1928 in Steveston, BC. In 1942 the family was evacuated from the coast and moved to Picture Butte, AB where they started a life of farming. Yoshito also worked several winters as a lumberjack in the Rocky Mountain House area. For 37 years, Yoshito farmed in the Iron Springs, Picture Butte district in partnership with his two brothers as Oga Farms Ltd. He retired in 1989. In these later years Yoshito enjoyed golfing, gardening and the company of family and friends far and near. He will be greatly missed. At the request of Yoshito, a private service will be held at Generations Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or koden, memorial donations may be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital, 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge, T1J 1W5, or the Bridges Program, 207-200-4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4C9.
