DR. YOSHIO SENDA, CM February 14, 1922 - September 9, 2009 It is with great sadness, and a sense of immense loss, the family of Yoshio Senda, beloved husband of Florence, announces his gentle passing on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Born in Mission City BC, Dad moved to Lethbridge as a young man. He started teaching judo as 'Sensei' in Lethbridge in 1952 and continued with his passion for judo until one week before his passing. Dad received many honours during his lifetime - too many to mention - and each honour was special to him. Yoshio is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence; and children: Ron (Collette Oseen) Senda, Greg (Jane) Senda, Mae Senda (deceased 1997), Dawna (Giuliano) Coslovi. He will also be forever remembered by his grandchildren: Deanna Jones, Kathryn Oseen-Senda, Mika Senda, Teio Senda, and Dean Coslovi. Also, great grandchild, Shawny Jones. Dad was an unassuming man who lived the philosophy of judo - "By improving oneself, society as a whole benefits". His many years of instruction and personal accomplishments have touched people across Canada and built long-lasting friendships. He believed and hoped that the many students he touched would continue with this philosophy in their own ways. In lieu of flowers and koden, donations may be made to the "Dr. Yoshio & Florence Senda Scholarship Fund" at the University of Lethbridge, 4401 University Dr., Lethbridge, AB T1K 3M4, or to the "City of Lethbridge/Lethbridge Judo Club", 910-4 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 0P6. A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at THE UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE, 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness.
