YOSHIYO AKUNE, beloved husband of Hatsuye (Martha) Akune, passed away peacefully in Raymond on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children: Sharon (Bob) Imahashi, Brian (Rhea) Akune, Steve (Cindy) Akune; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother Akiyoshi (Sachi) Akune, and his sisters: Masako Sato, Teruko Akune and Yoshiko (Shig) Kamachi. He was predeceased by his two sisters: Hatsuko Akune, Tsuruye Akune, a brother Tsutomu Akune and a grandson Michael Akune. Yosh was born November 11, 1921 in Steveston, B.C. where he worked alongside his father as a fisherman. During the war he was evacuated to Southern Alberta and later returned to Steveston. In 1964, he returned to Raymond where he made a living farming and later as a carpenter. Yosh always took great pleasure in being in the company of his family, his dog Kinu, and his friends at the Raymond Senior Center. Grampa Yosh enjoyed playing pool and never hesitated to play a game of crib with his boys. At his request there was a private family service. Koden and flowers are respectfully declined but if friends so desire, a donation may be made to the charity of their choice.
