Wayne Conrad

WAYNE CONRAD of Magrath, Alberta, born August 10, 1915 in Provo Utah to Leona Hales and Louis Conrad, passed away at Raymond Hospital on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Wayne married Nellie Taylor on January 18, 1939 in Taber at the home of Harold and Ida Wood. During their long loving life together they loved playing rook, square dancing, bowling, and fishing, but most of all they loved their evening car ride. Wayne was proficient at all he did in life, but was truly born a carpenter. He worked in Lethbridge and surrounding area for many years and was very proud of his work. He is survived by his three children: daughter Darlene (aka Callie) of Green Valley, Az; daughter Marilyn (Edward) Nikkel of Enchant, AB; and son Mervin (Sylvia) of Lethbridge, AB; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, as well as a vast extended family. Wayne was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years Nellie Rosa Taylor, sons: Jerry and Robert; and brothers: Rex, Clarence, Stanley, and sister Eva LaRue. Wayne happily remarried Margaret McBride (Ehlert) of Magrath in July 2003, before she sadly passed away in August 2006. Many thanks are due to the Ehlert family and an extended thank-you to Kathy Wilson for their generous care and many visits to Wayne in the past five years at Diamond Willow Lodge in Magrath. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Magrath Stake Centre, Magrath, AB. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 9:45 to 10:20 a.m. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m.
