Virginia Selk

VIRGINIA MARGARET SELK, beloved wife of the late Harold Selk, passed away in Claresholm on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the age of 87 years. She is the loving mother of: Sheldon (Miriam) of Claresholm, Loretta (David - deceased) of Raymond, and Lorraine (Allen) of Claresholm. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Harold, her parents, one brother, and three sisters. Virginia was born in Cardston, Alberta on July 23, 1920 to Michael and Annie Olshaski. At the age of two years, she moved to Lethbridge with her family. Upon her father's passing, she was raised by her mother and step-father, Matt Olshaski. In 1939 she married Harold Selk, and they resided in Stirling until 1953 when they moved to Claresholm. Harold died in 1954. She worked in Claresholm while raising her three children before remarrying and moving to the Crowsnest Pass. She had many interests: camping, fishing, ski-dooing. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many callings throughout her life. Friends may meet the family ONLY on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. The Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Claresholm Chapel, on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Mark Stubbs officiating. The interment will be held on Monday morning, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stirling Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Foothills Heart Health Program, Foothills Medical Centre, Special Services Building, Rm AC136, 1403-29 St. N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 2T9 (make cheque out to Calgary Health Trust).
