Theda Darby

THEDA STODDARD DARBY, beloved wife of the late Louis Alfred Darby of the Cardston Lethbridge area, passed away at St. Michael's Health Centre on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the age of 93 years. She is the loving mother of: Geraldine (Delayne) Caldwell of Sherwood Park, AB, and Ronald (Marilyn) Darby of Billings, Montana. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Theda is also survived by a sister Pearl (Jim) Fehr and sister-in-law Reatha Stoddard and nieces and nephews. Theda is predeceased by her husband, Louis Alfred Darby, her parents Andrew Samuel and Mary Elizabeth (nee Quinton) Stoddard, brother Ray Stoddard, sisters: Alice Johansen, Leona Ainscough and Mary Elizabeth Stoddard, and her son-in-law, Delayne G. Caldwell. Theda was born and raised in Cardston, and lived there from the time she was born until 2001 when she moved to Lethbridge. Theda and Louis farmed in the Raley area from the late 30's to the mid 70's. Theda had many interests and hobbies. She took great pride in her flower beds and gardens, and loved to be outside working in the yard. She also enjoyed her handiwork and was very skilled at needlework, quilting and ceramics. We now have many treasured family heirlooms thanks to her talent. Most of all, she took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild. The family would like to give a special thank you to all the staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit for their amazing dedication and love shown to Theda during her time there. A Graveside Service will be held at the Cardston Cemetery on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:30 a.m., with a luncheon to follow from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit, 1400-9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5.
