Send flowers

TAYEKO (JANE) TERAKITA passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at the age of 78 years. Tayeko was a loving and caring wife to Masayuki (Mas) Terakita, and mother to their three daughters: Joanne (Bob) Planidin of Calgary, Phyllis Terakita of San Antonio, Texas and Carolyn (Leigh) Morris of Calgary and grandmother to Kiyomi, Yoshiko, Mikiko, Tomiko and Reid of Calgary. She was predeceased by her parents, Hashime and Kohei Taguchi, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and two nieces. Tayeko was born in New Westminster, BC and moved in 1943 to work on the sugar beet farms of Alberta. She was employed by Canada Safeway for 22 years. Upon her retirement she and Mas ran their ice cream shop and grocery store in Waterton Park for 10 years. She was actively involved as a member of the Northside Buddhist Temple Fujinkai. Tayeko will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and generosity. She loved life's little pleasures: trips to Vegas, salmon fishing in BC, summers in Fairmont and precious times spent with family. She gave unselfishly, asking nothing in return. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, December 28, 2007, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. A memorial service will be held at the NORTHSIDE BUDDHIST TEMPLE, 1303-13 Street North, Lethbridge at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2007, with Rev. Y. Izumi officiating. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff at St. Michael's Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations may be made to the St. Michael's Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, 1400-9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5, or a charity of your choice.
