Tamiko Fujita

TAMIKO FUJITA, cherished by all, passed away unexpectedly at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Friday, December 7, 2007. Most of her children and grandchildren were by her side. She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses: Harumi-deceased (Marjorie) Fujita of Lethbridge, Kimiye (Tony) Tamayose of Port Moody, BC, Hiroko (Ken) Yoshihara of Richmond, BC, Hisae Price of Coaldale, George (Virginia) Fujita of Taber, Douglas (Wilma) Fujita of Coaldale, Debbie (Don) Friesen of Coaldale, and Michael Fujita of Coaldale. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest sister and her husband, Kazuko and Kezo Teramura, sister-in-law, Misako Kitazawa, two nieces and seven nephews in Japan. She was predeceased by her husband, Harutaro in December 2003, her eldest son, Harumi, in October 2006 and infant granddaughter Paige in 1969. Tamiko was born December 21, 1916, a second daughter to Tatsu and Kosaburo Kitazawa in Hirata-machi, Hikone City, Shiga-ken, Japan. On January 18, 1937 she married Harutaro Fujita, a Canadian resident and immigrated to Alberta the following May. As an active member of Buddhist churches in Raymond, Coaldale and Lethbridge, Tonarigumi and Shiga Kenjinkai, she found satisfaction and fulfillment in sharing common goals with her husband. Individual pursuits such as Japanese crafts and ikebana brought her personal contentment. In later years she found simple enjoyment in attending events of the preceding three organizations. The family extends appreciation for the quick and professional response of Coaldale Emergency Services and the care and consideration given to Tamiko and her children during her final moments by the medical staff of the CHR Emergency Department. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the HONPA BUDDHIST CHURCH, 3611 Forestry Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Rev. Y. Izumi officiating. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.
