MRS. SIMONE (NANA) PETERSEN passed away with her children at her side in Lethbridge on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the age of 54 years. She is survived by her three daughters: Leslie (Lamont) Loo of Tacoma, Washington, Nicole Petersen (Raelene McLean), Elisabeth (Jeff) Fujita of Coaldale and her grandchildren: Samantha, Courtney, Kobe, and Kai. Sister Michele (Robin) Fry of Calgary and Brother Lance Nealon of Sylvan Lake. She also leaves many friends near and far, including her favorite "foe" Knud Petersen of Lethbridge. She was preceded by both her parents and her brother Glenn Nealon. Simone was born in Toronto, Ontario and came to Lethbridge in 1972 where she met and married Knud Petersen of Chin, Alberta. They raised their daughters on the potato farm until 1987 then Simone and the girls moved into Coaldale, where Simone began nursing studies at Lethbridge College. She graduated in 1992 and started her nursing career in Coaldale, eventually securing and maintaining a full-time position as a registered nurse on the Blood Reserve. Simone was a humanitarian at heart, always rooting for the underdog and lending a helping hand whenever she could. Her caring and compassionate nature raised the spirit of many people (and a few stray animals along the way). Over the past few years Simone had the great pleasure of hosting many friends from Denmark and Australia. She also enjoyed a long sought after trip to France this past April. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grand kids. Her little buddy Kobe was the sparkle in her eyes and he always wanted "to go to Nana's place for a sleep over". They shared many wonderful hours watering the garden and walking around Henderson Lake. Everyone was always welcome at Simone's house even though the welcome sign read "Go Away", illustrating her great sense of humor. She often said: "We're here for a good time, not a long time" At Simone's request, no formal Funeral Service will be held. A small intimate open house will be held for family and close friends at a later date. At the family's request, no flowers please. In memory of Simone, donations may be made to Coaldale & District Emergency Services 1507-20th Avenue,T1M 1J7. Phone 345-1330
