SEIJI KIMURA of Coaldale, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn: wife Susan Kimura, son Kelly (Mickey) Kimura, daughter Kani (Lane) Kimura; three grandchildren: Deanna Kimura, Tania Kimura, and Dyson Wallebeck; one great granddaughter, Rorie Kimura; and four "special" grandchildren: Ariel, Tyler, Spencer, and Lansing. He is also survived by his sisters: Grace (George) Oshiro, Julie (Mace-deceased) Oshiro, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Chito (Mary) Kimura and Takeo Kimura, and his brother Harry Kimura. Seiji was born on February 11, 1936 in New Westminster, British Columbia, and moved with the family to Alberta in 1942. In 1961 he married Susan Martens in Coaldale, AB where they resided until his passing. In 1962 he studied at SAIT for automotive mechanics and became licenced in 1966. Seiji worked in the automotive industry for 44 years with Beny Chev Olds and then Murray Chev Olds until retiring in 2001. He enjoyed many camping trips with the family to Banff, Waterton, British Columbia, and into the United States and loved his journeys to Hawaii and Australia. He had a passion for hockey, sharing his knowledge of the game, for many years as a coach, and he continued to play the game himself up until the age of 70 years. Upon retiring from Murrays in 2001, he was presented with a cherished gift of a signed jersey from the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team, which he was a loyal fan to the end. Go Toronto Go!! A private family service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. Interment of ashes will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Flowers and koden gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
