RYAN JAMES PHILLIPS of Vauxhall, beloved son of Karen and Richard and younger brother of Kirsten, Jennifer, and Brett, passed away March 29, 2012 at the age of 12 years. Ryan was born October 8, 1999 in Lethbridge, and lived in Vauxhall for his entire life. In early 2008 he became extremely ill with pulmonary arterial hypertension, but he recovered well and enjoyed four good years until a recent worsening of his condition. Ryan was truly always positive, never showing any bitterness in spite of his difficult disease. He was a happy boy with a great sense of humour, and he was extraordinarily kind and polite. Ryan loved spending time with his family, playing games, going on vacations, reading books, riding his bike, especially at Waterton, and playing soccer. It was inspiring to see Ryan riding his bike and running on the soccer field with his oxygen tank on his back. Ryan's favourite hobby was building with Lego. In 2010 Ryan was granted his wish of visiting Legoland California with his family by the Children's Wish Foundation, which led to even greater creativity in his Lego building and to continuing efforts by Ryan to raise money for this great charity. Ryan was a super student, who loved to learn and attend school. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he was diligent and dignified in fulfilling his duties as a deacon. In addition to his parents and siblings, Ryan is survived by his grandparents, Alf and LaRene Phillips and Garth and Carol Leavitt, by six aunts and five uncles, numerous cousins, and a wonderful extended family. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709-50 Ave. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 11:45 to 12:45. Interment to follow in the Vauxhall Cemetery. Flowers are nice, but Ryan and his family would be much happier if instead donations were made to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 1-800-267-9474.
