Ruth Hovey

RUTH SHEEN HOVEY, beloved wife of the late Lon Hovey, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Good Samaritans Society in Magrath AB. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by her family. Ruth was the 10th child of a family with 13 children, born to Moroni and Harriet Sheen on March 21, 1921. Ruth was predeceased by her sisters: Lucille, Louise, Helen, Hazel and Mary; and her brothers: Grant, Ivan, Heber, Cal, Bob and Lloyd. She is survived by her children: Ervin (Dorothy), Peggy (Mark), Dixie, Maridel (Brett) and Sylvia (Joe). Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Melba Herget and sister-in-law Maxine Sheen. Mom was caring and compassionate. She was blessed with a remarkable memory for dates and times. She held many positions in her church. She loved raising chickens, bummed lambs and having a large garden. Mom followed her mother's footsteps and could provide a meal instantly. Ruth was involved with many organizations, such as, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and helping build the Magrath Seniors Centre. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and associated with her. Ruth's Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Garden Place Chapel in Magrath, Alberta. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment in the Magrath Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Dr. Tollestrup and all the caring staff at the Good Samaritans Society and the Raymond Hospital.
