PHYLLIS IRENE McAULAY JOHNSON 1921 - 2008 Passed away peacefully from this mortal life on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the age of 86 years. She was born in Clandeboye, Manitoba, April 4, 1921, and grew up on the family farm. Phyllis took her nursing education in Selkirk, Manitoba where she met her future husband, Gayle LeGrande Johnson, an RCMP officer. They were married in 1944; moved to Barnwell, and eventually to Lethbridge, where they raised their family. She worked as a nurse at the Bigelow Fowler Clinic for many years. Phyllis is survived by three children: Donald (Heather) of Barnwell, AB, Carolyn (Richard) Carter of Calgary, AB, Joanne (Nelson) Stonehocker of Drayton Valley, AB, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Doris and Jean, and one brother, Murray, as well as many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Phyllis was predeceased by her dear husband, Gayle, in 1983, her parents Fred and Edith McAulay, her father and mother-in-law, Leith and Myrtle Johnson, two brothers, Edwin and Kenneth, two sisters-in-law, and six brothers-in-law. Following Gayle's passing, she remained in her home in Lethbridge until November 2007 when the family moved her to Calgary to care for her. Many thanks to Dianne Meldrum, a dear family friend, Christina Oh, a special caregiver, and to the staff at the Beverly Senior Center, and Rockyview Hospital for their excellent and kind care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Center, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge, with Bishop Gordon Smith officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:40 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
