Patricia Tobo

PATRICIA SUMIYE TOBO, beloved wife of the late Michael Tobo, born September 10, 1925 in Port Alberni, British Columbia, passed away at St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit on Friday, July 15, 2011. Patricia is survived by her children: Ron, Joyce and Shelley (Paul), sister Donna, brother Akio, four beautiful grandchildren: Brenon, Tyler, Paige, and Brett, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Mike, brother Mas, brother-in-law, Muni and sister-in-law Martha. Pat will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Her selflessness as a wife always ensured that before embarking on her walk around Henderson Lake Park, she made breakfast for Mike before his daily round of golf. Her devotion to him found her sitting by his hospital bed every day during his lengthy illness. As a mother, she taught her children many lessons; the importance of being kind, polite, being respectful and to always clean the Christmas turkey with Comet before cooking it for twice the recommended period of time. She spent her working life interacting with customers at Safeway until she retired in 1988. All who worked with her remember her joyful nature and robust laugh. She of course included travel in her life, visiting with family and watching her grandchildren's athletic endeavours. Her favourite trips included travelling to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays and to attend Broadway plays. Most recently she travelled to Alaska and of course her favourite place, Las Vegas! Her benevolent spirit also compelled her to contribute to numerous charities across Alberta through her generous donations to ABS Casinos. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. R. Strank (of DNR), Dr. G. Hunt, the Bridges Program, the Home Care nurses who provided support to the family especially Vanessa Freel, the caring team at St. Michael's Palliative Health Centre and Cathy Basu for her ongoing tender care and concern. A Visitation will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Flowers and koden are gratefully declined.
