Patricia Imeson

PATRICIA CAMILLE BERNADETTE IRVINE IMESON, born in a blizzard on October 23, 1933 in St. Michael's Hospital, died at dawn on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Our precious mother has journeyed from this world to the next, where she rejoins her own sweet husband Dale, her parents Lawrence and Rose, and her sisters Margaret and Mary Ann. She is survived by her son Thomas Imeson of Nobleford, and by her daughters and their families, Helena, Troy, Kathryn and Kristina Danyk of Lethbridge, and Sylvia Imeson and Jon, Joseph, Francis, and Lawrence Barss of Victoria. She also leaves behind her sisters Sally Pittman and Cathy Gleason of Lethbridge, many nieces and nephews, and her kindred spirits: cousin Heather Wenker of California and brother-in-law Bill Steele of Toronto. Mom graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1952 after recovering from polio; she attended McGill University and worked for several years as a physiotherapist in hospitals across Canada. Music was a second career during those same years, as she directed many choirs and sang in various concerts and recitals. She settled in Nobleford in 1962 where she raised her family and served her community in myriad ways, not least of which included offering a kind word and a jolly good joke to anyone who looked as though he or she needed some cheering up. Her merry heart will be much missed in her large circle of friends. Every family should have such a mother: our home was ever filled with the sound of song, the scent of homemade bread, and the warmth of tender embrace. For Mom, gratefulness truly was the heart of prayer, as every cloud had a silver lining, every trial was a blessing in disguise, every day offered new hope and much for which to be thankful. We have lost our sturdiest rock, our staunchest fan, our firmest friend. We give thanks for the kindness of many dear neighbours in offering their faithful companionship during these last difficult weeks, especially Fr. Tomy Manjaly, Betty Mae Stewart, Jenifer Butterfield, Brant and Laurie Baker, Art and Sharon Reule, Corrie and Martin Vanderminnen, and Nellie Plomp. Bless you all. Helena and Sylvia are grateful to our wonderful brother Tom for his steadfast devotion to Mom since Dad died in 2005. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. CATHERINE'S RC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, with Fr. Tomy Manjaly Celebrant. Cremation to follow. "Lord Jesus, of You I will sing as I journey....."
