
ORISA YOUNKER passed away October 18, 2008 at the age of 97 years at the Lethbridge Extendicare where she had resided for the past 2 years. Orisa was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on March 8, 1911 to Leonard Owen and Edna Margaret Elizabeth Green. After high school she moved to Vancouver where she completed her business education and then worked for the Hudson Bay Co. In 1936 she married Everett Roland Thompson. They were later divorced. She returned to Lethbridge in 1969 and married her childhood sweetheart, Vernon Leith Raegh Younker, in October of that year. Orisa was a talented seamstress and cook. Friends and relatives will always remember the cards and letters received on special occasions. She was always interested in others in spite of her own challenges and health problems. She had a quick wit and a strong will. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her two sons: Leonard Andrew Thompson of Edmonton, Alberta, and Everett Kim (Joyce Ann) Thompson of Mountain Home, Idaho; two grandchildren: Jennifer (Robert) Cox and Jeffery (Patricia) Thompson; and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Edna Green, her husband, Leith Younker, and her brother, Woodrow Green, and his wife, Margaret. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Generations Funeral Home, 703 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta. A graveside service will be held Thursday October 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery located on Scenic Drive and 11 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta with former Bishop Jim Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lethbridge 4th Ward Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon Smith, 1710 - 21 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1K 2H7.
