
NAOMI KEST CARD 1919-2011 Naomi Card, beloved wife of Brigham Young Card, passed away in Lethbridge on July 27, 2011 at the age of 92. Naomi was born on June 13, 1919 at Dearborn, Michigan USA, to John James and Catharina Kest. She was raised in the San Francisco Bay area of California and met Brigham Young Card in 1949 when he was a graduate student at Stanford University. They married June 28, 1950 in the Cardston Alberta Temple and settled in Edmonton, where Brigham was a professor at the University of Alberta. In June 1992, Naomi and Brigham moved to Lethbridge, making their final home in Parkbridge Estates. Naomi was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the heart of her home, a wonderful cook, seamstress and homemaker, the creator of many warm family traditions. She gave untold service to her family and was a caring neighbour and friend, often being the first to arrive with food or help for those in need. She was a woman of deep faith who loved the Savior. She will be greatly missed. Naomi was predeceased by her husband Brigham, her parents, and by her brother Bob and sisters Norma and Nellemae. She is survived by her five daughters: Lynne (Charles) Patching of Edmonton, Catherine Jensen of Lethbridge, Marjorie (Brian) Clark of Casper WY, Elizabeth (Alan) Hansen of Salt Lake City UT, and Norma Jeanne (Rod) Smith of Fresno CA. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie Crooks of American Fork UT, and by her 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care for their excellent and compassionate care in her final months. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. Interment to follow at the Cardston Cemetery.
