SUNADA MIYO (MIYOKO) SUNADA, beloved wife of the late Masato Sunada, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5 at the age of 90 years. Miyo is lovingly remembered by her four children, Guy (Joyce), Marc (Beth), Cheryl (John) Penrice, and Jim; her grandchildren Kimberly, Lindsey, Melanie, Jamie (Travis) Copp, Dana (Brian) Robinson, Steven (Kim), Kurt (Jessica), Jarrett (Kathy) Chow, Matthew Penrice, Miya (Kyle) Fraser, Robert Penrice, and Barrett and thirteen great grandchildren. Miyo is also survived by her sister Misaki Okimoto of Artesia, California, brother Joe Nakashima of Mississauga, ON and sister-in-law Hideko Ito of Taber. She was pre-deceased by her brother Dr. Shoji Nakashima of Toronto, ON. Miyo was born in Mission, BC on September 3, 1924. In 1942, she and her family were relocated to Raymond where she met her sweetheart Mas who followed her to Leamington, ON when her family moved there in 1947. They were married in 1948 and moved back to farm in Raymond. Miyo and Mas retired to Lethbridge in 1992. Miyo was an active member of the Raymond Buddhist Church and of the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta where she was a member of the choir. She was a founding member of the Momiji Dance troupe and enjoyed performing Japanese dance for many years. Some of Mas' and Miyo's most fun hours were spent with their friends Jack and Louise Nishiyama and Shin and Hisako Takahashi. The "Gang" travelled and did all sorts of adventurous things together. Miyo took up origami and created an everlasting special gift for her grandchildren - over a thousand golden cranes arranged as a decoration for their weddings.
