MAXINE HODGSON JENSEN, beloved wife of the late Bert John Jensen, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 89 years. Maxine was born January 30, 1920 in Taber, AB to Thomas and Lenora Collett Hodgson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her only child Linda (Florian) Cook, her special grandchildren, Wyatt (Arlene) Cook, Kimberly Cook, and Chandler (Tatiana) Cook and her delightful great grandsons, Tayson and Keegan Cook, all of Lethbridge. She is survived by sister Fern Jensen, sisters-in-law Pat Hodgson, Jolane Bullock and Ruth Jensen and brothers-in-law Gordon Jensen and Ed Tooker and many nieces and nephews. Maxine was predeceased by husband Bert (1982), her parents Thomas and Lenora Collett Hodgson, Bert's parents Niels and Edith Doram Jensen, sister Melba Whitehead, brother Gordon Hodgson, brothers-in-law Virgil Jensen, Glen Jensen, Harry Jensen, Robert Jensen, George Whitehead, Harold Evanson, Evan Hall, and sisters-in-law Della Tooker, Eva Hall, Stella Evanson, and Helen Jensen. Bert and Maxine were married July 4, 1942. They farmed in the Chin Coaldale district until moving to Lethbridge in 1969. Maxine was always involved with her family, friends and church. She was a faithful member of the Church and served in many callings throughout her life. Maxine enjoyed using her hands to create many lovely projects by knitting, sewing, crocheting, needlework, cooking and painting. She loved to have family and friends in her home for meals and visits. Being a grandmother and great-grandma (Gg) were such important roles in her life. Maxine moved from her home into Garden View Lodge in the fall of 2004 and then to St. Therese Villa February 2009. She made many dear friends in these two facilities. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday evening, December 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON FUNERAL HOME, 327-10 Street South, Lethbridge, and prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Fairmont Chapel, 205 Fairmont Blvd. S., Lethbridge, with Bishop Peter Koegler officiating. Interment to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice, or to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund c/o Bishop Peter Koegler, LDS - Fairmont Chapel, 205 Fairmont Blvd. S., Lethbridge, AB T1K 7R4.
