MAS KAJIWARA, beloved husband of Namiko (Barbara) Kajiwara, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Mas was predeceased by his parents, older brother Kazuo Kajiwara, older sisters, Haruko (Kajiwara) Haya and Sue (Kikue) (Kajiwara) Kariatsumari, and younger brother George (Asao) Kajiwara. He is survived by his wife Namiko, as well as his younger brother, Bill (Hideo) Kajiwara and his wife Toshi of Vancouver, sister-in-law Jean Kajiwara and brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces from the Kajiwara and Ichino families. Mas was born on October 6, 1922 in Capilano, British Columbia. Along with others of his family, he was relocated to Southern Alberta during World War II, where he met his wife Namiko. They were married in Picture Butte in 1948; this year (2009) would have marked their 61st anniversary. Mas was devoted to Namiko, and they lived quietly in Lethbridge after his retirement. He had many skills and interests, working for several years as a carpenter here in Lethbridge. Both Mas and his wife were long-time and active members of the Lethbridge Buddhist Temple. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, with Reverend Y. Izumi officiating. Flowers and koden are gratefully declined. However, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta, 470-40 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3Z5.
