Mary Heather Rypkema Geddes

GEDDES MARY HEATHER RYPKEMA GEDDES beloved wife of Vern Geddes, passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the age of 67 years. Besides her husband Vern, she is survived by her children: Trevor Rypkema, Angie (Dave) Geddes, Danny Rypkema, Steven Rypkema all of Lethbridge; Step-children: Jenny Geddes of Lethbridge, Jessica Geddes of Lethbridge, Erin Geddes of Medicine Hat, Ben (Lethe) Geddes of Magrath, Melissa Geddes of Lethbridge and by 15 grandchildren. Heather is also survived by her siblings Nancy (Rudy) Schmidt, Jim (Shirley) Jones and by Steve (Elli) Jones. She was predeceased by her infant son Troy Rypkema, her first husband Geert Rypkema, her parents Ross and Margaret Jones. Heather was born August 12, 1949 in Nova Scotia to Ross and Margaret Jones. Heather moved with her family to Edmonton where she met and married Geert Rypkema on June 16, 1971. Together they were blessed with their 5 children. In 1981, they relocated to Drumheller. After Geert’s passing Heather moved with her children to Raymond. While living in Raymond Heather met and married Vern Geddes on May 10, 2001. She felt very blessed to be the “Bonus” mom to Vern’s 6 children. Heather’s children and grandchildren were the most important part of her life. She was a kind and loving person that had a way of showing her many friends the love she had for them. Heather was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gospel was very special to Heather. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, West Side Stake, 560 Highlands Blvd West, Lethbridge, on Friday September 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Bishop Sheldon McLachlan officiating. Friends may meet the family prior to service from 1:00-1:45 pm at the church. Memorial donations may be made in Heather’s name to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, 960 – 19 St. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
