
MARY GIBB EDWARDS of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the age of 81 years, with her husband and family by her side. She was born on August 5, 1928, the 12th child of Milton Herbert Gibb and Sarah Ann Bridge. She was raised in Magrath. She married Eldon Russell Edwards of Taber, on September 11, 1946 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. They lived in Edmonton for 3 years, while Eldon finished his degree at the University of Alberta. Mary and Eldon moved to Coaldale in 1949 where they raised their children. In 1963, they moved to Lethbridge where they made their home until her passing. Mary served in her church in many capacities. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She raised her children to understand the importance of family. Mary and her family frequently visited friends and relatives, and enjoyed having family in their home. She loved to cook and bake. She was famous for her butterhorns, bread, and peach pie. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Eldon Edwards, their children: Sally (Steven) Bird, Russell (Rhonda) Edwards, Sylvia (Gary) Nakamura, Michele (Blair) Nielsen; her sister and best friend, June (Wayne) Gough; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her parents Milton and Annie Gibb, her siblings: Mima (Roy) Nielson, James (Arla) Gibb, Herbert (Estelle) Gibb, Rulon (Verda) Gibb, Reece (Alda) Gibb, Kenneth (Ila) Gibb, Sarah (Lorin) Low, Joseph (Inez) Gibb, Orson (Eileen) Gibb, and Annetta (Ellsworth) Scoville. The Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge, on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may meet the family on Friday evening, August 21 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or on Saturday prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment in the Archmount Cemetery.
