CRANSTON Mary beloved wife of the late Morrell (Shorty) passed away peacefully in Coaldale, Ab. on September 28, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Mary was born on December 28, 1920 in Glasgow Scotland. She moved to Canada in 1922 with her parents Edward and Elizabeth and older brother Eddie. She attended school near Dinsmore, Sk. and in 1935 went to work in the telephone office to help her parents when her brother moved to Ontario. She moved to Outlook, Sk. in 1942 where she continued to be a telephone operator. In 1944 Mary married her soul mate, Morrell (Shorty) Cranston. To this union was born two daughters, Wilma and Joy. Both girls were Mary and Shorty's world. After the death of Shorty in 1970 Mary continued to live in Outlook until 1979 when she moved to Lethbridge, Ab. to be closer to her girls. She moved back to Outlook in 1986 but in 1989 she spent the winters in Lethbridge and summers in Outlook. With Mary's health deteriorating by 2001 she moved to Lethbridge permanently. Mary will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Wilma (Ed) Horak of Lethbridge, Ab and Joy (Leonard) Honish also of Lethbridge. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Eddie (Kim) Horak (Coalhurst, Ab.) and their daughters, Michaela and Kiara; Michael (Lethbridge); Leslie (Lethbridge); and Travis (Chelsey Ress) and their daughter Sophie. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Morrow Cranston (Saskatoon) and sisters-in-law Helen Hunter (Calgary) and Joyce Pettit (Winnipeg). Mary is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Shorty, parents Edward and Elizabeth Hunter, brother Ed Hunter, niece Margaret Hunter, nephew Ted Hunter, sisters-in-law Mary Cranston, Elizabeth Wilson, Evelyn Cranston, and Myrtle Cranston, and by brothers-in-law Jack Wilson, Oliver Cranston and Don Pettit. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Park Funeral Chapel, Saskatoon, Sk.
