MARJORIE BARTON SELK, beloved wife of the late Virgil Selk, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her ten children: Joan (Marlin, deceased) Anderson, Ruedon (Louise) Selk, Gayle (Clifford) Prince, Vincent (Kathy) Selk, Robert (Jacqueline) Selk, Collin (Betty) Selk, Lauchie (Laura) Selk, Karenne (Jim, deceased) Stuckart, Jordon (Michele) Selk, and Lalann (Gerry) Laing. Marjorie will be dearly missed by her 41 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters. Our special Mom was born November 7, 1921 in Stirling, AB. She was the third of four daughters born to William Proctor and Valetta Oler Barton. She married Virgil Selk on September 17, 1937 in Stirling, AB. They moved to Rosemary, AB in 1944 where they raised their family. Mom was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful cook, and an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions. She has left her legacy of love, hard work, honesty, and integrity to live on through her children and their families. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, STIRLING CHAPEL, with Michael Selk officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Sunday evening, March 13, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service on Monday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow at the Stirling Cemetery, Stirling, AB. If desired, memorial tributes in Marjorie's name may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Edith Cavell Care Centre for their kindness and care.
