Margaret Cahoon

MARGARET NILSSON CAHOON passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the age of 93 in the Chinook Regional Hospital after many months of failing health. Marge was predeceased by her husband Rex Cahoon on April 20 2004. She is survived by her three children, Marilyn (Don) Stouffer, Harlan (Jane) Cahoon, Kyli Norma Cahoon (Ron Ziegler), 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as four brothers, Byron (Irma) Nilsson, Bert Nilsson, Dean (Shirley) Nilsson and Garth (Nellie) Nilsson. Born in Stirling, Alberta on September 4, 1915, she was raised in Wrentham. She and Rex were married December 23, 1937 and his teaching career took them to many small towns in Alberta before settling in Lethbridge in 1955. Marge worked as a cashier for Dominion Foods before beginning her career as a certified dental assistant. She spent many hours caring for her elderly parents and aunts. She was a beautiful seamstress, working through the night to make clothes for children or grandchildren. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught Sunday school for many years. Rex and Marge served a mission in St. George Utah, then returned home and worked in the Cardston Temple. She was a wonderful friend to many people fortunate enough to know her. A special thanks to those who lovingly cared for her at St Therese where she lived since November and to the staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital who cared for her in July, August and September and again this past week. Friends may meet the family on Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703 - 13th Street North Lethbridge, or from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the funeral. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11:00 am at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Lethbridge Stake Center, 2410 - 28th Street South Lethbridge. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
