Mac Russell

MAC C RUSSELL of Lethbridge, formerly of Diamond City, beloved husband of Hattie Russell, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 shortly before his 97th birthday. Mac is survived by his wife, Hattie (Holladay); his children: Keith (RevaBeth) of Springville, Utah, Janeth Heath of Magrath, Kathleen (Paul) Ciesla of Lethbridge, Marianne (Dale) Taylor of Lethbridge, David (Lori) of Lancaster, California, and foster son Glen Little Light of Calgary; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and his sister Ruth (Art) Cutler of Penticton, B.C. He was predeceased by his parents William Francis Russell and Mary Ellen Criddle; his brothers: Francis, Warren, Austin, Bill, Ken and Glenn; his sisters Julia Asplund, Faun Peterson and Beth Walker; and his grand-daughter Stephanie Ciesla. Mac was born on December 10, 1913 in Riverdale, Utah, and at the age of three, moved with his family to the Taber area and later to Lethbridge. He married Hattie Holladay on July 8, 1942 in the LDS Cardston Alberta Temple. Together they raised their family in Diamond City. He worked as a fieldman for Canadian Sugar Factories, and farmed a small acreage. He served for many years as the bishop of the LDS Ward in Diamond City, and in later years he enjoyed serving in the Cardston Temple with his wife. Mac was a dedicated, hard-working, and loving husband, father and friend. Everywhere he went, he found someone to visit with. He loved people. He especially loved having his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to visit. The family would like to thank Dr. Billett and all those who assisted in Mac's care over the last few months. Friends may meet the family on Thursday evening, November 11, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge.
