LESLIE TAKASHI HIGA, beloved husband of Mary Jean Aubin passed away at St. Michael's Health Centre on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the age of 53 years. Les was born in Coaldale, AB on August 10, 1955 to parents Shinako and Nori (deceased). He is the loving father of daughter Kameko (Martin Baender) and son Raiden, and stepfather of Candice Aubin-Lam (Simon). Les is also survived by his brothers Gary (Danna - deceased) and Randy; sisters: Brenda (Lester) Tanner, Donna (Ray) Journoud, and Sharon (Arlon) Bauer, six nephews, two nieces, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and his maternal grandmother. Les grew up in Taber, AB. Beginning in 1980, Les enjoyed a successful real estate career built on a foundation of integrity and professionalism. He became co-owner of Coldwell Banker First Lethbridge Realty in 1992. His commitment and contributions to the industry were highlighted by two years as President of the Lethbridge Real Estate Board and as President of the Alberta Real Estate Association in 2003. As recently as March 2009, Les received the Coldwell Banker President's Award. He was a current member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Les was an inspired leader, teacher, and mentor. Les extravagantly embraced life and lived his dreams. His abundant generosity, zest for life, and kindness, touched all who knew him. Les' pride and love for his children, his care and devotion for his wife and family, and his cherished friendships are the things that gave ultimate meaning to his life. Les lived through his illness and departed from this life the same way he lived it - with extraordinary strength, dignity and grace. His spirit will live on. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at THE BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA, 470-40 Street South, Lethbridge, with Rev. Yasuo Izumi officiating. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge. Flowers and koden are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2M7, or to the charity of your choice.
